About Our Kenya Projects

OneKid has been working in Kenya since 2006. Our first project was a simple science lab at the Nyamasare Girls School in Mbita, Kenya. Since then, we have built dorms, science labs, classrooms, bathrooms and kitchens, installed solar power and water catchment systems and paid tuition for hundreds of students and salaries for teachers and nurses at more than 15 schools in three different areas in Kenya.

Here are some highlights of the projects we have done at several different schools:

Rusinga Girls Secondary School
Rusinga Island, Kenya

In 2017, we built a science lab for this school. This enabled the students to take National Exams for the first time.

Stephen Kirindo Primary School
Mbita, Kenya

We have built a science lab and started several school programs, including a journalism class and school paper.

Kaswanga Girls Secondary School
Rusinga Island Kenya

Since we began working with this school, we have built 6 separate classrooms, supplied textbooks and badly needed school supplies. We have also donated athletic equipment so the students can have some fun as well as needed feminine hygiene products. In 2015 we built a science lab that has enabled the students to take their National Exams for the first time. In 2017, we will be building a new dorm to house many more students.

Uya Primary School
Rusinga Island, Kenya

In our 2014 visit, we saw the 6 new classrooms that have been built since we began helping, classrooms in 2011 and in 2012 a science lab.  We’ve provided school supplies like textbooks for hundreds of students and have built bookshelves and paid teacher salaries.

Kamensangre Mixed Secondary School
