OneKid OnePad Becomes GalCare!

In 2023 OneKid OneWorld opened a microplant to make sanitary pads for the girls in our schools. Girls all over the world lose up to a month of school a year due to lack of access to the most basic personal hygiene products. Not only is “Period Poverty” a barrier to education but it leaves young women vulnerable to exploitation and a whole host of health issues. So we launched “OneGirl OnePad” to combat this very serious problem. 

By 2024 OneGirl OnePad was producing close to 500,000 pads per year, all of which were donated to the over 6,000 girls in our schools. We were also able to reach an additional 10,000 young women through community health outreach programs. The microplant employed 17 people. 10 of whom were graduates of our schools! 

OneGirl OnePad was a remarkable success, and it was clear to all that it was time to graduate to the next level. In 2025 OneGirl OnePad became the entity now know as GalCare!  GalGare is a social enterprise. It is a female owned & operated factory that produces high-quality sanitary pads. A portion of those pads will continue to be donated to OneKid OneWorld schools. GalCare will officially launch in 2026 and we are so proud to have been the inspiration for this exciting new venture.
